We have over 20 years experience in structural engineering design.

Using not only the main construction materials of concrete, steel, masonry and timber structures, but also utilising Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), we have undertaken design services on projects from private residential developments and extensions to multi-million pound commercial projects across the healthcare, retail, education and industrial sectors. We tailor our designs to suit each project and focus on the practical methods of how the building will be constructed, maintained and operated, to enable us to develop and efficient and cost-effective solution.

We pride ourselves on finding the most economical solution for our clients as well as the most practical solution for your builder. We partner with your chosen architect, and have the knowledge, experience and expertise to tailor our structural solutions to suit your property, regardless of age or construction material. This may include a modern extension, a complete new-build or structural work on listed buildings. We provide our clients with a complete design package including calculations and drawings to acquire Building Control Approval.

At Parallax Structures, we work closely with clients at the concept stage of projects to understand the clients aims, objectives and requirements – 

before developing structural scheme options of the building form and construction type, for their consideration and to assist with proceeding to the next design stage(s). We identify the need for any structural surveys, reports and/or targeted investigations required to assist with the initial scheme design and minimise the project risks to the client, before developing our structural solutions. No matter how large or small your project may seem, we apply this approach to all projects from small scale residential extensions to larger commercial projects including refurbishment works, to minimise the projects risks and help our clients achieve the most economical solution for their project.

We undertake visual inspections of existing structures to identify the likely cause of any structural defects.

We make recommendations for supplementary targeted intrusive investigations, where appropriate, before providing a structural report identifying the likely cause(s) of any defects and making recommendations for undertaking any remedial works, including recommended timescales for undertaking the works  Following completion of the investigations and issue of our report, we can provide fully detailed structural design services for the remedial works, if required.

As Chartered Civil Engineers, we are experienced in undertaking detailed design of below ground drainage networks.

This includes below ground drainage systems for projects ranging from smaller extension and refurbishment works, including capacity checks and condition appraisals of the existing network, to larger drainage networks with attenuation structures and SUDs features.  We are able to undertake the detailed design of below ground drainage as part of your development.

Design & Build contractors

Often Design & Build contractors require early stage assistance during the tender process, particularly with regards to foundation and drainage advice.

We can assist you with preparing a competitive and (hopefully!) successful tender. Using our knowledge of different forms of construction, including foundation options and construction sequencing, we work closely with contractors to value engineer client proposals and can provide a tender report summarising the structural options which can then be used to inform their tender submission.
